The station is powered by a Davis Wireless Vantage Pro2 weather station. The data is collected every 2 seconds and the site is updated every 60 seconds. This site and its data is collected using Weather Display Software. The station uses the Davis 6153 with a fan aspirated sensor for improved accuracy. The Davis Wireless Vantage Pro system is well known for its Accuracy. Forecast are gathered from data available from NOAA on the web.
For the tech savy. Our weather station is connected to the internet with a P4 2.8Ghz PC operating with Win. XP Pro. Interface to the Davis VP2 is by Davis Weatherlink Datalogger and Weather Display Software. We also use VirtualVp by SoftWX.com Software to connect the VP2 to our local network computers as well as run several other types weather graphing software thus allowing all software to access the VP2 in real time. The host PC is also automated by Startwatch by SoftWX.com Software so we don't really have to watch over it! All of this software requires very little processor overhead and would run easily on a PC of much lower specs than ours!
Internet connection is DSL so it's online all of the time, except when things break or we need to change something. DSL service is provided by Sprint/Embarq who have done an extremely good job thus far. We've been very pleased with their service of over a year now. Give Them a try if you are in need of High Speed Internet service.
